This is a private reference site, not a government office. We cannot confirm custody, release anyone, post bond, schedule transport, or pull official booking, jail, court, or criminal-history records. Where To Ask

Long County custody questions often split between the sheriff's office and the jail where the person is physically housed. The Long County Sheriff's Office handles the local roster, warrants, bonds, holds, open-records routing, and law-enforcement records. Surrounding county jails handle many day-to-day housing questions because Long County does not operate an active jail building.

  • For a current Long County detainee, start with jail inmate records, then note any "HOUSED IN" county before calling a facility.
  • For booking photos, use jail roster mugshots and contact the physical housing jail if a photo was generated there.
  • For charges filed after an arrest, use court records after a jail arrest and court contacts, not the housing jail.
  • For mail, visitation, commissary, phones, property, and in-person housing rules, use the facility pages listed in the footer and confirm with the listed jail.
  • For a sentenced Georgia prisoner, use the Georgia Department of Corrections Find an Offender tool and Long Unit contacts if the person is in GDC custody.
  • For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP Inmate Locator, ICE ODLS, or ICE Contact Center instead of the Long County roster.

Official Record Contacts

The sheriff's records pages distinguish several record paths. Sheriff open records go to foia.request@longcountyso.org under the Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. 50-18-70 et seq. Long County's local GCIC and local-records check process is in person, requires identification and consent where applicable, lists a $20 cash fee, and says most requests are completed within three business days. The sheriff also says court-date questions go to the Clerk of Court, not to the sheriff.

State And Federal Custody

GDC custody is separate from the Long County roster. Long Unit is a Georgia Department of Corrections facility in Ludowici for sentenced state offenders, and GDC's Find an Offender system is the correct state locator. For federal sentenced prisoners, use the Bureau of Prisons locator. For immigration custody, ICE states that ODLS is available online and that the ICE Contact Center can help when the locator does not return a detained person.
