Long County Jail Roster Start
The official Long County inmate records path starts with the Long County Current Inmates roster. The roster is linked from the Long County Sheriff's Office website and is hosted by Synergistic Software. It is free to view, and the research found no login requirement. It is more than a simple name list. Each result can show a custody status, arrest date, bond field, charge table, court field, warrant number, and a housing note. That housing note matters in Long County because the sheriff states that Long County does not currently operate its own jail facility.
Long County inmate records should be read as a county custody index, not as proof that the person is in a Long County jail building. The original courthouse jail closed after a fire in the early 1980s, and Long County now houses detainees in surrounding county jails. A roster entry may say HOUSED IN APPLING, HOUSED IN MCINTOSH, HOUSED IN PIERCE, HOUSED IN TATTNALL, HOUSED IN WAYNE, or HOUSED IN SCREVEN. Use that line for mail, visitation, and day-to-day facility questions. Use Long County for the Long County bond, hold, warrant, records, and court routing.
Local custody split: A person can be listed on the Long County jail roster while physically held in another county jail.
Use Long County Inmate Records
The roster has three useful views: Current Inmates, 24 Hours Arrests, and Inmates by Arrest Date. Current Inmates is the first place to check for a person believed to be in custody now. The 24-hour page is useful for fresh bookings and quick release checks. The arrest-date page adds a date range, so it helps when a person was booked earlier and may no longer be on the current list.
- Open the Long County roster from the sheriff site or go directly to the current-inmates page.
- Use the name filter, or browse the current list if the spelling is uncertain.
- Read the Status line first. CURRENTLY BOOKED and RELEASED mean different things.
- Compare the arrest date, days in jail, and address fields when two names look alike.
- Check Total Bond, but remember that courts set bond and the sheriff does not.
- Read the charge table for statute, description, count, warrant number, class, and court.
- Use the HOUSED IN line before mailing, visiting, sending money, or asking for a booking photo.
If the Long County inmate records result says RELEASED, the jail custody event may be over, but the court case may still be pending. For charge status, court dates, formal filings, or disposition, contact the clerk or court listed in the court field. The Long County sheriff court guide says the sheriff cannot provide court dates, case status, or specific legal details.
Long County Roster Search Fields
The public roster exposes a small set of search controls. That is useful when searching Long County inmate records because the page does not require a booking number or inmate ID. Use a last name or partial name first. When the arrest date is known, the arrest-date tab gives more control than the current list.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Filter By Inmate Name (Optional) | Text | No | Appears on current, 24-hour, and arrest-date views. Last name or partial name can help. |
| Select Date Range to Filter | Date range | No | Appears on Inmates by Arrest Date for older or released entries. |
| From date | Date picker | No | Calendar controls include month grid, arrows, Today, Clear, OK, and Cancel. |
| To date | Date picker | No | Use with the From date to narrow the arrest-date results. |
Long County Inmate Profile Fields
A Long County inmate records entry may look like a court summary because it includes a charge table, court field, and warrant number. It is still a jail roster record. The entry reflects booking and custody data, while the formal case record can change after prosecutor review, amendment, reduction, dismissal, indictment, plea, or trial.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Public roster name for the booked person, often in uppercase or mixed case. |
| Status | Custody or release value, including CURRENTLY BOOKED or RELEASED. |
| Sex, height, weight | Basic descriptors. Height may use compact numbers such as 509 or 601. |
| Address | Last known or recorded address when published. It can be blank or partial. |
| Arrest Date | Date of the Long County arrest or custody event and sometimes the arresting agency. |
| Days In Jail | Roster day count from the arrest or booking event. |
| Total Bond | Overall bond amount or status, including DENIED, NOT SET, or a dollar amount. |
| Charge table | Warrant number, count, statute, description, misdemeanor/felony marker, and court field. |
| Housing note | The outside county jail holding the Long County detainee, when the roster supplies it. |
| Mugshot | No visible booking photo field was confirmed in the text capture. LCSO says it does not generate or maintain mugshots because it does not house inmates. |
The roster did not expose a booking number, booking time, projected release date, judge name, housing pod, medical status, or per-charge bond type in the captured text. When those details matter, ask Long County about Long County bond or hold questions and ask the housing jail about daily custody rules.
Long County Jail Records Requests
Online Long County inmate records do not answer every records question. The sheriff's open-records page routes requests by email to foia.request@longcountyso.org. A strong request names the person, record type, date, case number, warrant number, incident number, or arrest details if known. For status updates, the sheriff page says to call (912) 545-2118 and ask for Open Records personnel Mark Hall.
Long County cites the Georgia Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. 50-18-70 et seq., and the three-business-day response rule in O.C.G.A. 50-18-71. Fees may cover search, retrieval, redaction, and production based on the lowest-paid qualified employee after the first 15 minutes. Some records may be redacted or withheld under O.C.G.A. 50-18-72, including sensitive identifiers, pending investigations, juvenile material, medical records, and other protected information.

Long County Bond Records
The Total Bond field is a practical part of Long County inmate records, but it is not the final word on release. The Long County jail and bonding page says the sheriff does not set bond amounts. Bond comes from Magistrate Court, State Court, or Superior Court. If the roster says DENIED or NOT SET, call before gathering money or traveling, because court action or another hold may control release.
| Bond Type | Long County Procedure | Local Caution |
|---|---|---|
| Cash bond | Eligible cash, money order, or cashier's check goes to the Long County Sheriff's Office. | The sheriff does not make change, so confirm exact payment before arrival. |
| In-county property bond | All required parties bring ID and proof of property value to the sheriff's office. | A separate nonrefundable $20 state-required cash fee applies. |
| Out-of-county property bond | Approval is needed from the Long County sheriff and the property county sheriff. | Expect more time because two counties are involved. |
| Bail bond | Long County lists approved bondsmen from surrounding counties. | Bonding companies usually charge a nonrefundable percentage of the full bond. |
Holds are separate from bond. The sheriff says all holds placed on individuals booked by Long County must be processed through the Long County Sheriff's Office, not through the jail that physically houses the person. A housing jail can answer facility questions, but Long County remains the control point for Long County holds.
Long County Inmate Visitation Routing
Long County did not publish one county jail visitation schedule because it does not operate an active jail. The visit, mail, phone, property, commissary, and booking-photo rules depend on the housing jail shown on the roster. Search the roster first, write down the HOUSED IN county, then call that jail before traveling or sending anything.
| Housing Location | Published Long County Detail | Use For |

Long County State Federal Searches
Long County inmate records cover county custody. They do not replace the Georgia Department of Corrections, federal Bureau of Prisons, or ICE systems. A person sentenced to a Georgia prison should be searched through GDC Find an Offender or the GDC offender query service. Long Unit is in Ludowici, but it is a state prison, not the Long County jail roster.
The GDC offender query screenshot below comes from the official GDC offender query service, which is the statewide route for sentenced Georgia offenders rather than Long County pretrial detainees.
Use GDC when the Long County roster no longer shows the person or when the person has been sentenced to state custody. Use the county roster for active Long County bookings.
| Custody Type | Where to Look | What It Covers |
|---|---|---|
| Long County pretrial or county custody | Long County roster | Current bookings, recent arrests, charge table, bond field, and housing county. |
| Georgia state prison | GDC Find an Offender | Sentenced offenders in GDC custody, including Long Unit when applicable. |
| Federal sentenced custody | BOP Inmate Locator | People in Federal Bureau of Prisons custody. |
| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | Current or recent ICE detainees, using A-number or biographical search details. |
| Victim notification | VINELink | Supplemental custody status or notification, not the official Long County charging record. |
Long County Roster Terms
Several roster words need careful reading because Long County inmate records mix jail custody, court routing, and outside housing in one result block. These definitions keep the record tied to the right office.
- Booking
- The custody processing event after arrest, with identity, charge, bond, and status data entered where applicable.
- Current inmate
- A person listed by the roster as currently booked. The physical bed may be in another county.
- Released
- A person no longer in current custody on that roster view. Release does not mean the case was dismissed.
- Total bond
- The roster's overall bond amount or status, subject to court authority and possible holds.
- Hold
- A custody restraint or agency request. Long County says its holds must be processed through LCSO.
- Housing note
- The HOUSED IN line that names the outside jail handling daily custody.
For booking photos tied to a person held outside Long County, use the housing county rather than assuming Long County has the image. The mugshot-specific record path is covered on the Long County jail mugshots page.
